This is our favourite counting song in class 2C
Being able to look at a small number of objects and instantly recognise how many objects there are without needing to count.
Subitising is essential for children’s mathematical development for many reasons:
- Subitising helps children to understand what numbers mean or how many ‘things’ a number refers to.
- It can develop children’s pattern recognition.
- Children can over-rely on counting.
Use these patterns to help develop subitising skills

Lent is the 6 week period leading up to Easter. It is one of the most important events in the Christian calendar.
Lent starts on Ash Wednesday. The last week of Lent is called Holy Week.
In 2021 Lent begins on Wednesday 17 February and ends on Monday 29 March.
Lent is an old English word meaning ‘lengthen’. Lent is observed in spring, when the days begin to get longer.
Lent starts with Pancake Tuesday, this year that will be on Tuesday 16th February

Good morning 2C It was lovely to see so many of you joining in with our PE lesson today. Here are links to some of the songs we used for you to enjoy at home.
You can share it first and then use the questions the second time. This way it gives the children time to look at the pictures and process what is happening. So that when you read it again and ask questions the children are ready with the answers.

In RE we have been learning about the Jewish religion and how they celebrate Hanukkah. The children enjoyed the lighting of the Menorah and tasting some traditional Jewish food.
Today we have explored lots of different toys that give out sound and light. We also did a great experiment to figure out if we can see in the dark or not.
