Happy Diwali!

1A have been busy learning about some of the traditions associated with the Hindu festival of Diwali.

We listened to the story of Peppa Pig’s “Happy Diwali” which talked about some of these traditions.

Light is important in the celebration of the festival of Diwali so we made lanterns and Diva lamps.

During our maths learning we practiced counting and making sets of candles on Diva lamps.

We coloured pictures of Rangoli patterns and Fireworks to practice our mark making skills.

We make coconut burfi which is a sweet commonly made and shared during the celebration.

We have had lots of fun!

Happy Birthday Ladywood!

What fun we have had celebrating Ladywoods 20th Birthday this week!

We made party hats and birthday cards

We decorated birthday cakes for our party

We had our faces painted which we loved!

We then celebrated with a class party at the end of the day! What fun we have had.

Halloween fun in 1A!

Happy Halloween!

1A thoroughly enjoyed our Halloween themed day on Friday. We decorated pumpkin shaped biscuits with icing and chocolate chips and also enjoyed eating them! We used pieces of pumpkin to print orange paint on to paper plates before using black shapes to create our pumpkin faces. We explored the pumpkin exploration area and Halloween tuff spot and completed some spider themed maths activities too

Moving our bodies!

In our science lesson this week we have been learning about creating movement with our bodies.

We had so much fun doing our science learning!

1A have had a lovely day  joining in with #HelloYellow. We had lots of fun dancing with ‘happy songs’ this morning before thinking about feelings and how we were feeling. We also enjoyed making funny faces with some photobooth props and playing with yellow playdough. For snack this afternoon we ate yellow food … bananas and custard 🙂

1A are Wild and Free!

This week we have been exploring being wild and free in the forest!

We looked at what wild things we could find and also enjoyed being wild, running, dancing, climbing and listening to the wild noises!

We have also been learning about keeping clean and washing our hands.
