We hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend.
Today, we’re going to be a looking at some of the activities you can do at home to learn more about Judaism!
Below is an interesting video which gives us a tour of the Jewish sacred building – the Synagogue. It shows us all the important parts of the Synagogue and explains what these represent.
Let’s make a Torah scroll with Julie!
The Torah contains the Five Books of Moses. It is written in Hebrew and is kept in the Ark in each synagogue.
What you will need:
- Roll of paper (wallpaper will work nicely),
- 2 sticks,
- Circular object to trace around,
- 2 clothes pegs.
This is a fantastic opportunity to practice our Hebrew writing:
You can copy/trace the Hebrew alphabet or use Google Translate to write your own sentence, translate it into Hebrew and copy it onto your Torah scroll!
Remember: Hebrew writing is written from right to left.
Did you enjoy making your Torah scroll with Julie?
We would love to see some pictures of the Torah scrolls you’ve made and your Hebrew writing! Please send these to your class email address.
