Colourful Science

Making Fireworks in a jar

Follow these simple instructions to make some colourful fireworks to brighten up a dull, rainy January day.

The ScienceĀ

This experiment uses the different densities of the liquids to cause this effect.

The oil isn’t as dense asĀ  water and sits on top of it. The food colouring drops through the oil because it is water based and denser than oil, when the food colouring starts to mix with the water it creates the firework effect.

Hello from the Science Team!

This week the Science team have been having fun in the garden.

Judith used the sun to make something very special.

Watch the video then try the experiment for yourself to see what Judith made.

We would love to see your experiments and hear what you found.
